Mid-Season Report - The Dark Horses

The Dark Horses

PERFORMANCE: When you saw the list of players for the team, you knew that this talented bunch of youngsters would set a high level of expectations and achieved them admirably. Beating all teams but one in front of them, you could see that they really attained a high level of performance by playing swashbuckling attacking football, augmented with mediocrity of other teams. The only blip on their unbeaten run was a creditable draw against Warung Din Selamat FC. People said that it was down to luck in their game which was foolish to describe the way this band of performers play. A high tempo offensive play with supports from full-backs position is their most effective trademark with most opposing teams being asked questions frequently with their defence tested and tormented. Can they ever be beaten?

CAPTAIN: Mohd Azri Adnan a.k.a Poey- This charismatic young player had compiled the most potent attacking line-up in history of PSL. Top scorer so far with three goals in his name, he showed maturity in the central midfield position by conducting TDH plays with sense of control. Tactically sound, most of his decisions were vindicated with positive results. A true born leader.

BEST PLAYER: Mohd Anwar Rasyid Ahmad- As most of the TDH players are offensively-minded, this jovial guy had something else to offer: versatility. Playing as right-back most of the time, his attacking forays were combined with ruthless defending with tireless backtracking. Generally a team player, he passed well and knew how to position himself optimally. Three clean sheets with a goal enhanced his reputation as well.

UNDERPERFORMER: Sydi Firdaus-Probably a cruel choice to pick from these excellent performers, he had been selected mostly because the lack of end product in his general play. Starting regularly as left winger, he had been expected to cut open the defence with crosses but ineffective in doing so. A crucial winner against Phoenix Bangkit FC was his only major contribution aside from unlimited enthusiasm and high work rate. Hopefully, he would do much better technically in the future.

STARLET: Muhtadii- As most top teams do, TDH lacked young players to drool about. This unknown newcomer made his debut in the last TDH match but looked nervous, overshadowed by brilliance of Ibrahim Nasir. There’s not much to say about the mysterious striker, as he didn’t made much impact in the match aside from spurning chances but showed some good combination play with his teammates, echoing the attacking ethos of TDH.
